During the process of manufacturing leather handbags, the manufacturer must first choose the leather bag colours and designs. Prior to designing the handbag in leather , the manufacturer prepares to dye the leather pieces first. Before dyeing the leather, the manufacturer has to understand the nature of the leather in question, i.e. whether it is suede, top-grain or full-grain. This way, he/she will be able to select the right kind of dyes or leather bag colours, i.e. the ones that would show up perfectly on the leather. Thin coats of the dye solutions are sprayed onto the leather piece in order to dye it. Needless to mention, the leather piece is hung in order to allow it to dry faster in between coats.
After dyeing the leather pieces with the desired leather bag colours, the manufacturer then concentrates on making the handbags. To make the handbag, manufacturers usually follow the designs made by designers on paper. These model designs usually contains details such as dimensions of the finished product, therefore the manufacturer simply has to follow it and make the required cuts from the pieces of dyed leather that they have. Heavy duty scissors and razor knives along with a cutting board are used for cutting. Of course, measuring tools such as a carpenter’s square or rulers are used for precision while measuring the leather piece to be cut.
Different patches of cut out leather bag colours pieces are then stitched together according to the design of the handbag. Stitching is the most important process, one that commands maximum attention, because the assembler has to be careful not to make unnecessary stitches, which only ruins the pieces of leather and the look of the product. After stitching, the manufacturer then proceeds to adding finishing touches to the leather bag by using accessories such as tags, buckles, zippers, snaps and so on.
